Dr. Damon E. Jones was born in London, KY. He attended Lauren County High School. He grew up on farms and at age 12 began working at Mitchell's General Store. His secular work included surface coal mining and oil & gas exploration.
Dr. Jones accepted Christ at a revival meeting at Hart Baptist Church in London, KY. Within a year he surrendered to the call to preach and preached his first sermon. Genesis 37 was the text used in that first sermon.
In his early years of his ministry, he served as a youth minister, interim pastor, and evangelist. Over the years of ministry, Dr. Jones has pastored at South Faiston Baptist Church, old Town Hill Baptist Church, 1st Baptist Church, Valley View Baptist Church, and now South Elkhorn Baptist Church.
In 1985 Damon married Linda Gullett from Salyersville, KY, a graduate of EKU. They welcomed Lindsey Sherae, a daughter, into their life in 1988.
Damon and Linda live in Versailles, KY. Lindsey is a student at the University of the Cumberlands.
The vision of his ministry at South Elkhorn is to allow God to use him and lead the church into the 21st Century.
